The Bond County Circuit Court Clerk is the official custodian of all criminal court records filed in the county. This covers criminal complaints, informations, indictments, motion filings, hearing dockets, plea agreements, and sentencing orders. Staff can search the records index by defendant name or case number and produce copies of what's on file. Fees for certified copies are set by state statute under 705 ILCS 105, which establishes uniform copy fees for all circuit court clerks in Illinois.
Coming in person to the Greenville courthouse during regular business hours is the most direct way to get records. If you can't make it in, a mail request works. Send the defendant's full name, the approximate year of the case, and the case number if you know it. Include a check or money order for copy fees. The clerk will search and mail the results.
Online Search: Judici and re:SearchIL
Bond County participates in Judici.com, the third-party case search platform used by 82 of Illinois's 102 counties. Judici lets you search Bond County criminal cases by name or case number for free. The state also runs re:SearchIL, a free statewide case search portal open since May 1, 2025. It covers criminal and civil cases from courts across Illinois, including Bond County. No account needed. Search at researchil.tylerhost.net. Both tools are useful for locating cases, but neither provides certified copies.
What Bond County Criminal Records Are Open
Illinois law makes most adult criminal court records public. Anyone can access criminal complaints, indictments, hearing dockets, motions, plea agreements, and sentencing orders filed in Bond County Circuit Court without giving a reason. The records are there for the asking.
Some records are closed. Juvenile criminal records are confidential. Records that have been sealed or expunged by court order are not available. Social Security numbers and financial account information are redacted. Cases involving adoptions are restricted. If a Bond County case has been sealed, the clerk can confirm the case exists but cannot provide the file without a court order.
